Bolton Malayalee Association

REPORT OF THE BOLTON MALAYALEE ASSOCIATION FOR THE YEAR 2006 – 2007

Dear Members,
On behalf of the Bolton Malayalee Association I have great pleasure in presenting the Annual Report of the Association for the year 2006-2007.

BIRTH OF THE BMA
The BMA was officially inaugurated on 9th September 2006 by the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Walter Hall before a record gathering of around 200 members and guests  of the Association at the Farnworth Cricket Club. The Mayoress of Bolton and  Ms Christine Cross,  Support Worker from Bolton Voluntary Service were also present to grace the occasion.

ONAM CELEBRATIONS
The Birth of the BMA was also marked by the Onam celebrations where everybody enjoyed themselves in the cultural programmes, comedy show, auctions, tug-of-war,  and competitions for children. The highlight of the day was the traditional Onam Meal.   Adding to the excitement, was the election to a keenly contested post of the President of the Association and the constitution of the new Committee Members for the year 2006-2007. I thank all the members for their great patience and understanding on the unforeseen delay in the arrival of the Onam Sadhya.

ACCOUNTS
The BMA at its GBM held on 19 November at the Farnworth Cricket Club approved and passed the Association Accounts as of 30th September 2006 and also appointed Binu Jacob as Auditor for 2006-2007. The present statement of accounts therefore reflects the period 30th Sept 2006  to 30th March 2007.

MEMBERSHIP
The BMA is proud to announce that our membership drive has been the most successful among similar organisations in the UK with almost 100% of the Malayalee Community living in the Bolton and Farnworth areas becoming members and we currently  have 230 members as part of our growing family.
