
PROGRAMMES AND EVENTS
The newly formed committee met on 8th October 2006 and drew up the draft programmes for the year; this was later approved by the GBM held on 19th November 2006. Christmas Programme was a resounding success and celebrated with gaiety and fun on the 27th of December at the Bolton Indian Sports Club with a strong presence of around 75 families. The highlight was the grand sit down Christmas Meal and entertainment by REX and Co. everybody generally had a great time in the true Christmas spirit. Another feature of the Christmas programme was the first ever attempt at organising running Christmas Carols that owed much of its success to the enthusiasm and efforts of Jomi Xavier and his team.
Malayalam classes for the children of our members are at an advanced stage of planning and organisation in collaboration with the Bolton CVS and is expected to take off in the first week of April.
Bolton CVS Sustainable Groups Projects: The BMA has signed an agreement with Bolton CVS under which we have held regular meetings with CVS towards identifying training needs/projects/signposting to other groups and funding help. Training session on Confidence Building and Assertiveness was held on 20th January 2007, in collaboration with Bolton CVS for the benefit of our lady members. Ms Leigh an expert on this subject led the seminar which was greatly appreciated by the participants.
BMA Directory : All relevant data has been collated and compiled and we hope to publish the directory shortly.
Kerala Open Day : While this project is still at its conceptual stage the committee has decided that it would be more practical to combine this project with the Bolton Mela to be held in the month of May/June in Bolton
Celebrating the academic success of our children : Special cash prizes and Certificate of Achievement were awarded to those who achieved academic success in 2006 and 2007. We hope to continue this for the academic year 2007-2008 and also extend its scope to other cultural and educational activities.
BMA Web site : The association has successfully registered its domain name. The web site committee has made considerable progress on drafting the contents and costing and we hope to soon launch our own website
